Minister of Telecommunication, Honourable Daryl Vaz, says both of Jamaica's main telecommunications providers, Flow and Digicel, suffered major damage to their networks during Hurricane Melissa.

Vaz gave the update during a press briefing on Friday, where he outlined the extent of the hurricane's impact across the country.

He reported that Flow currently has 40 per cent of its network active, mainly in the Corporate Area and eastern parishes, with mobile connectivity at 22 per cent and about 100,000 customers accessing emergency service.

Digicel, meanwhile, has 31 per cent of mobile users online, with 24 per cent of its sites operating on generators as teams prioritise restoring towers and fibre routes.
