It was the Nickalia Fuller show yesterday at Stadium East as his two goals powered Tivoli Gardens FC to a 2-1 win over Waterhouse FC in the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League.

In the earlier game of the afternoon, defending champions Cavalier turned back league leaders Montego Bay United 3-0.

A brace from Chad James and a strike from Jerome McLeary saw Cavalier leaving with the win.

For the feature contest, Jerome Waite, Tivoli's head coach, praised his team for the win as they now move within the league's top five.

"We came out with this purpose because we needed to win this game to ensure that we find ourselves in fifth position and today the team did that," Waite said.

Fuller opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, before Danville Watson's own goal pulled Waterhouse level in the 65th.

Fuller bagged his brace in the 71st from the penalty spot, handing his team all three points.

REAL HIGHLIGHTS

Fuller's play down the wing were the only real highlights of the first half as he looked to cause trouble with every play.

A spirited run from the youngster inside the first 10 minutes earned loud cheers from the Tivoli fans as he drove at goal, but his final effort was crowded out for a corner.

He found the opening goal soon after, adding his name to the scoresheet with a scorcher of a finish.

Stepping up to take a free kick near the edge of the box down the left flank, Fuller deftly found the top corner with a curling effort.

The remainder of the half, however, dissolved into missed opportunities as neither team could put together a decisive finish.

Just like he did in the first half, Fuller again proved a nuisance as he lined up another free kick.

His initial shot struck the wall, but he was able to get another bite at the cherry. However, he sent his curling effort just wide of the upright.

Fuller was once again the danger man as, at the hour mark, he turned his defender before rifling a thunderous effort that crashed off the post.

OWN GOAL

Waterhouse pulled level five minutes later through an own goal.

Colorado Murray's shot at goal struck the post before deflecting off Tivoli defender Watson, who knew very little about it.

Fuller was the man to restore Tivoli's lead when he stepped up to convert from the spot in the 71st, after a handball in the box.

Seeing his name in lights, Fuller went for an audacious bicycle kick in the final minutes of the game, delighting fans despite his effort going metres high of the mark.

Keno Simpson came close to adding Tivoli's third of the night, but his curling effort was inches off target.

The win sees Tivoli move past Waterhouse to go fifth in the standings on 15 points, while Waterhouse sit sixth on 12.

Montego Bay, despite losing, remain on top with 22 points, while Cavalier now sit fourth with 16.
